Learn Spanish with ease

Cabarete Language InstituteThe Cabarete Language Institute, which has been teaching students since 2008, are specialized in intensive Spanish courses for people who come to Cabarete for just a few weeks and want to learn Spanish in as short a time as possible. The institute is now also looking at offering regular Spanish classes for expatriates who want to learn the language.

Intensive high quality language classesIntensive Spanish courses
The experienced and certified teachers focus on getting students to speak from the very first lesson, strongly believing that this is the best way to learn a language. Of course some grammar and basic theory on the construction of phrases is not forgotten. Small groups of five to eight students meeting three hours a day for either a week or two weeks ensure that everyone gets the attention they need and is able to progress as fast as possible.

Regular Spanish classes in the pipeline
On the same basis, the institute is now looking to diversify into opening up regular classes for foreigners who live in Cabarete and the surrounding areas. These two-hour classes would be held twice a week and foreseen levels would basic and intermediate. Also an advanced class is likely to be organized with only conversational classes.

Experienced and qualified teachersTeaching English to improve students’ employment chances
The institute also offers classes of English and upon demand Italian, German and French. It also has a social program in place, called “Opportunities in English”. Through this program Dominicans learn English, giving them more employment possibilities in the local tourism sector. The cost of the 12 hour per month course is 2000RD (50USD) monthly and can be paid by a sponsor that the student has to find.

“The “Opportunities in English” program is not only about language instruction, it’s also about making students take responsibility”, explains Isaac Trujillo, Director of Cabarete Language Institute. “For example, the fact that it rains is not a valid excuse not to go to class, and getting our students to understand that increases their value on the employment market by a lot.”

So far the institute has four groups enrolled in this program with levels ranging from basic to intermediate. Also, starting on 4 March three groups from the Mariposa Center for Girls, a charity education institute that gives locals girls the opportunity to receive quality education, have started learning English through this program.

Language computer lab facility
The institute also has a small computer lab, which enables students who come in early or want to stay later to practice the language they are learning using Duolinguo, a language instruction software.

Upcoming intensive Spanish classes
The school always has some intensive Spanish courses, with three hours of intensive teaching per day, lined up in the near future at democratic prices. Check out www.cabaretelanguage.com for more information.
