Breakfast with a Smile! Claro!

Claro Cafe in Cabarete, Dominican RepublicTucked away just off the main street about a hundred meters past Janet’s going out of town you’ll find a very chilled-out little café, which does fantastic breakfasts and easy lunches.  Open Tuesdays to Sundays from 8AM to 2PM, Claro Café offers a range of fresh produce healthy breakfasts and hearty lunches, accompanied by fresh juices or home-brewed coffee.

 

 

Everything is prepared on the premises and ingredients used are adapted to the seasons, so that you will always eat 100% fresh food. A number of vegetarian and vegan dishes are included on the menu, and the latest addition is gluten-free pancakes.

Claro Cafe in Cabarete, Dominican RepublicBreakfasts range from fruit pancakes to veggie omelets, and lunches from tasty wraps or sandwiches with a side to fresh and filling salads.  On Wednesdays the special is homemade quiche of the day with a glass of wine.

The fresh juices made from seasonal fruits as well as their special signature iced-coffee drinks are highly recommended.  Especially the iced coffee beverage mixed with chocolate and peanut butter is mighty tasty.


Easy-going owner and manager Sandy, who has been a Cabarete resident for the past 16 years, will make you feel instantly welcome and also young members of the family will love this place as the cafe has a kids’ menu as well as a kiddie corner.  Sandy’s four year old daughter Claro Cafe Cabaretesometimes likes to help out, bringing menus to tables as well as broad smiles.


“We like to provide high quality good tasting food in a relaxed atmosphere.  You can ask for any dish at any time during opening hours, as we know that some people like to have early lunches and others like late breakfasts”, Sandy explains.  “Another important aspect of our philosophy is to create as little trash as possible. That’s why all of our food produce is fresh and prepared on the spot. The natural waste is normally given to the local pigs, which means we usually only have milk cartons left over.”

Claro Cafe is a breakfast restaurant in Cabarete, Dominican Republic.As a smart alternative to bottled water, Claro Café offers complimentary filtered water through the EcoServe filter system, which filters tap water to safe levels while keeping the minerals in it, making it a more healthy choice than most Dominican bottled water brands.  All salads and fruits are also washed in this filtered water.

In case you prefer to eat at home or at work a delivery service / take-away service is offered with biodegradable to-go packaging.  The cost price of the packaging, 25 pesos, is added to the bill when food or drinks are taken away, and in case of delivery the cost of a motoconcho is also added.
