Cabarete surfer wins silver

surfing, silver medal, Cabarete, EncuentroAlexander de la Cruz, an 18-year old surfer from Cabarete, has won Silver in the Paddleboard Race on 6 December at the 2014 Bolivarian Beach Games held in Huanchaco, Peru.  Gold went to Peruvian surfer Tamil Martino Marchand and Carlos Martins from Venezuela won Bronze.

Other Dominican Surf Selection team member Natalia Margarita Olmedo Bencosme came fourth in the Female Prone Race.

FEDOSURF (the Dominican Federation of Surf), which helped prepare the team to go to Peru, is very proud of the results and the overall good performance of the whole crew.

Cabarete surfers to Bolivarian Beach Games

Fedosurf Dominican Republic, Bolivian Games, SurfingA group of ten Dominican world class surfers and bodyboarders, including three representatives from Cabarete, left on December 1st for Playa Huancaco in Peru to compete in the 2014 Bolivarian Beach Games.

The surf competition, which is split up into different subcategories including longboard, bodyboard and normal surf, will start on December 3rd, with the award ceremonies foreseen on 6th and 7th December.

The program has been used for many years to train military, police, martial arts athletes, special operations teams and professional athletes to prepare them for the physical challenges that come with their jobs.
